Krita 3.0.1.1 cintiq 13 HD pen not working, only on canvus

Krita Desktop version 3.0.1.1 , Windows 10 (not anniversary), Wacom Cintiq 13 HD, GTX 970

i installed the latest version of krita last week, and it was great, i messed about on my Cintiq 13 HD and it worked fine. just opened it up and started just scribbling with the first brush that was selected, fine. went to change the brush and the pen would not select it, i tried selecting other things and nothing, tried closing the program using the pen, nothing.

the pen was locked to the canvas only. if krita was open at all on my PC, i could not use the tablet pen unless i was in the canvas where i can draw in krita. i closed krita, started working again perfectly fine. opened up another drawing software, no issues, reopened krita, locked again. the buttons on my Cintiq worked fine throughout but could not select the radial menu of that with pen.

i looked through all the settings and found nothing that would make this a thing, i don't know why it would be a feature anyway but if it is, i cant find a way to disable it. i haven't changed anything since and even re downloaded krita and portable version and it still happens.

the stupid thing is it worked fine last week, no problems. now when nothing has changed it has broken. everything is up to date and works fine except in krita. if only using my mouse, even if cintiq is connected and using on the Cintiq screen it works fine, its just the pen that locks to the canvas, i can select a different brush with mouse then go back to pen, but as you can imagine that is a horrible way to work. the only other thing that acutally worked with the pen was the right click menu's color picker. nothing else on the right click menu and the docked color picker also doesn't work. very strange

I have been using a cintiq for some time now, and I also get this issue from time to time. It is an old 21UX cintiq on windows 10, but the problem seems to persist with newer models like your tablet. I do not think it has anything to do with Krita though, rather it is a wacom cintiq issue.
In my case, this happens usually if the computer has been idle for some time and goes to standby, or some other glitch occurs, but it affects the tablet's performance systemwise. This means that I usually have to close everything and restart the wacom service.

It could be the cintiq drivers, because I didn't have such issues with an intuos.
I havent found any other workaround to this other than restarting the wacom service or the computer.

thanks for the quick reply. i will try this tomorrow when i first turn on my pc and see if it persists and will restart the wacom service now to see if that helps. i used to have issues before where each time i wanted to use my cintiq i would have to restart the service but that has long since been resolved. it could be purely a cintiq driver issues however i have my doubts considering it was fine before and is still fine on any other software only krita so most likely an issues between both wacom and krita.

okay so i restarted the service, and it started working in the menus, thought wonderful. but then i went to draw and had no pressure sensitivity. i followed a couple of ways to get it working if you have no pressure sensitivity but none have worked so far. i closed down krita and relaunched. i now have the same issue as before. locked to canvas but pressure sensitivity works. and if i reset the service again pen works for everything but sensitivity. this is becoming rather annoying.

so upon closing everything down for the night i noticed an update for graphics drivers that i wasnt notified about previously. i installed them and it seems to be working fine now, wether this is due to the graphics driver update or another program open that was conflicting with it i dont know. but everything is working at the moment. i should have checked graphics drivers when i checked the wacom ones were up to date, but i had only recently updated them anyway so i didnt think there would be another one. hopefully it stays working now i will check tomorrow. thanks for your help anyway
